Andrea Weckerle shares ways to drown out the haters

Video: Andrea Weckerle on creating a “friends brigade”

One concern that keeps companies from engaging in blogging and social spaces is the online army of negative nellies. Call them trolls, call them haters, call them idiots, but their mere reputation has scared off wonderful writers, bloggers and creative people.

Y’all Connect speaker Andrea Weckerle thinks we have another option: Take back the Internet. Her nonprofit organization CiviliNation has been asking people to submit ideas via video for creating Civility in the Digital Age. (You’ll find my insights on camera, too.)

Andrea suggests creating a friends brigade, a chorus of positive and supportive voices to drown out the haters.

Watch her video, rate it and vote for it if you like. Take a look at the other videos, and share your own ideas for creating a more civil discussion online.

Together, we can make the comments a more interesting and enlightening forum, instead of an angry free-for-all.
