What an honor for me to be featured on the premiere episode of “Birmingham Shines,” a new podcast from my friend Sheree Martin.

She wears many hats: Samford assistant professor, attorney, strategic storyteller and now podcaster. Sheree has been a great and involved supporter of our conference and other projects. I had fun chatting with her about my hometown, Y’all Connect Presented by Alabama Power and the challenges we face as a city.

And as I half-jokingly mention during the debut episode, I’m sure she’ll find better (less cynical), more positive (less cynical) guests for her weekly show. Sheree explains how we met and how I became her first guest.
